Introduction:
The question presented is, What is His name; and what is His Son’s name? Try to answer some of the following questions which pertain to this subject. What does LORD (capitol letters) in the Old Testament mean? What is the Tetragrammaton? How many years has the name Jesus been in use, and was it known when the Messiah walked on this earth? What was the name for the Messiah in the original King James Bible? Who was Ies, who claimed to heal the sick, prophesied, wrought miracles, and was said to have changed water to wine? Is it true that Joshua is called Jesus twice in the New Testament? What happened at the Council of Nicea in 325 AD? Who is the Spirit talking about in Revelations 3:9?
Reading the following article will show you the answers to these and many other questions you may have. You will be astonished at some of the facts presented here. Take the Scriptures and search them, just as the Bereans did. “And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea…in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so” (Acts 17: 10-12).
This article is written to all those who are open and sincerely seeking God to know the truth concerning His name. There is one Almighty God. All the prophets in the Old Testament and all the apostles in the New Testament had this same belief of one God. We can read in 1 Timothy 3:16 (King James Bible), “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God [Father] was manifest in the flesh [Son], justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”
The Jews believe there is one God but most do not believe the Messiah has come. The belief in the existence of two, three (trinity), or four persons in the Godhead stems from paganism. Baal worship is rampant in the ‘Christian’ churches, including many apostolic churches, just as it was in the days of the Judges in Israel. Many of these institutions have embraced the customs, traditions, and practices of Baal and refuse to let them go. Most do not follow or use His hollowed name.
God’s true believers need to come out from these churches so as not to receive of their plagues. In Revelations 18:3-4 we read, “For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. [Holidays such as Christmas, New Year’s, and Easter are when the merchants make most of their profits] And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” Once again, be open and sincerely seek God.
What is His Name?
A recent survey was conducted and the participants were asked the same question as asked in the book of Proverbs: What is His name, and what is His Son’s name? Interesting enough, most said that the Father’s name is God and the Son’s name is Jesus. Both are wrong! It is simply amazing to know through all these years we have called the Father and the Son by the wrong names. According to Random House Dictionary, God is the creator and ruler of the universe and regarded as almighty. God is not a name, it is a title. We know the angels have names, such as Michael and Gabriel. What about the Father? What is His name?
When the Messiah taught us how to pray, he said to pray in the following manner: “Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name…” (Matthew 6: 9-13). What is that Holy name in which we need to pray? In Proverbs 30:4 the Scripture asks us if we know His name. “Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? Who hath gathered the wind in his fists? Who hath bound the waters in a garment? Who hath established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is His Son’s name, if thou canst tell?”
Why Was the Father's Name Cut?
From 200 to 500 AD, ancient rabbis compiled their commentaries on the Bible, social customs, legends, philosophy, and historical events in the Talmud (not to be confused with the Torah, by which Judaism refers to the first five books of the Hebrew Bible). Since it was compiled by rabbis who were leaders in rabbinical academies, Jews consider the Talmud as very authoritative, even to this day. The Talmud states that 300 BC, during the reign of Simon the Righteous as high priest, the Father’s name began being eradicated from the language and was not being used. Actually, it is written in the Scriptures that His name would be cut off or destroyed. “Thy seed also has been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof, His name should not have been cut off nor destroyed before me” (Isaiah 48:19). They took His name, tried to destroy it, hide it, and have people forget and not pronounce the true name. In the King James Bible and other Bibles, His name was taken out of the Scriptures and replaced with LORD (capital letters) between 6,000 and 7,000 times.
The church fathers made this error, forgetting and putting the Father’s name aside deliberately. It should be noted, that observant Jews typically do not write out or pronounce the true name because by doing so they feel they would be defacing or taking the name in vain. They came to believe that the Holy name was too sacred to be uttered on ordinary occasions, but it was said that the high priest could say it on the Day of Atonement.
The early versions directly translated the Latin word Dominus to the modern English word we all know as LORD, which still causes the world to forget His true name for Baal. In Jeremiah 23:26-27 it states, “How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? Yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart: Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbor, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Ba’al.”
Baal is a Semitic word that means lord, master, husband, owner, chief man, and a number of other titles. God does not sanction the replacement of His true name with a title or any other Baal god. This word apparently became a proper name and there were many other gods that bore the name of Baal, such as Marduk. He was a Babylonian god in the city of Babylon. He was later known as Bel, a name derived from the word Baal or ‘lord’. Also, Jezebel in the 9th century BC introduced into Israel’s capital city of Samaria her Phoenician cult of Baal, as opposed to the worship of the true God.
Can We Know His Name?
Yes, it was prophesied in Isaiah 52:6-7, “Therefore my people shall KNOW MY NAME: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that does speak; behold it is I. How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings…that publisheth salvation.” When looking to see what the original name was, we need to research Hebrew word origins, not Greek or Latin, which so many people do. Etymology is the study of word origins and how words change in meaning and pronunciation over time. Some might say that we can never know the ancient Hebrew name that was lost through the ages. However, in Zephaniah 3:9, it states, “For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of ...(YaH the Father)... to serve him with one consent.”
For the Jews, a name was meant to convey the nature, core, and reputation of that which was named. When you transliterate the Father’s name from Hebrew to English, you will come up with four letters in the English alphabet. According to Webster's Third New International Dictionary, some call the four letters YHWH, YHVH, JHWH, JHVH, or IHVH. A transliteration is different than a translation. A transliteration is to produce corresponding words or letters from one language to another to produce the original sound or very close, as it is understood every language has dialogue or slang. If a foreign head of state visits another country, we still pronounce his or her name the same as their home country, even though it is spelled differently in each language. For example, when former President Nixon visited the Republic of China in 1972, he met with Chairman Mao Tse-Tung. The names are pronounced the same in both countries; however, we spell both names in the English alphabet and they spell them in the Mandarin alphabet (Chinese symbols). The names do not change in sound from country to country.
For most Jews though, it was forbidden to pronounce or even write in full the Tetragrammaton. The Jews decided when they came to pronounced His name they would say the Hebrew word ‘adonay,’ which means Lord. Ancient Hebrew did not have vowels as in the English language. Notice, it is the adding of vowels A, E, or O to help in the pronunciation of these four letters in English. One thing certain, the first two letters YH stands for YaH. That cannot be denied. (Read below in the section called “Why Go Back to Hebrew?”). Very importantly, His Name should have been written everywhere in the King James Bible or any other Bible where the word LORD (capital letters) appears.
.
Since the vowels of the sacred name are not indicated and the name has not been spoken out for centuries, the exact pronunciation has been lost. Most pronounce the name, Yahweh, which is accepted by nearly everyone, Jew and Gentile alike; however, others pronounce the name Yahwah or Yehovah. As mentioned above in the Book of Isaiah, “Therefore my people shall know my name…” and in Zephaniah, “God will reveal and turn to the people a pure language that they may call upon the true name….” His true name shall be revealed to the true believers.
The oldest known inscription of the Tetragrammaton dates back to 840 BC, on the Mesha Stele. It bears the earliest certain extra-biblical reference to the Israelite God. The most recent discovery of a Tetragrammaton inscription, dating to the 6th century BC, was found written in Hebrew on two silver scrolls recovered from Jerusalem.
‘Christian’ translations of the Bible into English commonly used LORD in place of the Tetragrammaton in most passages. It is assumed that early Jewish ‘Christians’ inherited from Jews the practice of reading LORD where the Tetragrammaton appeared in the Hebrew text or where a Tetragrammaton may have been marked in the Greek text. Gentile ‘Christians,’ primary non-Hebrew speaking and using Greek texts, may have read LORD as it occurred in the Greek text of the New Testament and their copies of the Greek Old Testament. This practice continued into the Vulgate (Latin translation) where LORD represented the Tetragrammaton in the Latin text. In Petrus Alphonsi’s Tetragrammaton-Trinity diagram, the name is written as Jeve. At the reformation, the Luther Bible used Jehova in the German text of Luther’s Old Testament.
God's name was cut off, hidden, and changed to LORD; however, one can easily find this out in any research conducted concerning this subject. For further study, read about the Tetragrammaton in the Jewish Encyclopedia, which goes deeper into the history of this subject.
What is the Name of Our Savior?
The name given to our Savior is Yehoshua (Yehowshua), pronounced yeh-ho-shoo’-ah (Strong’s Dictionary of the Hebrew Bible; 3091, page 48). The account given to his birth in the book of Matthew is as follows: “But while Joseph thought on these things: Behold, the Messenger of YH-- appeared unto him in a dream, saying: Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take to you Mary your wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost: And she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shall call His name Yehoshua: for he shall save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). The name had a very precise and important meaning. His name which was given by the angel, had to mean salvation as Joseph was told, “For he shall save his people from their sins.” Yehoshua means God (YH) is Salvation.
Later on in the Scriptures we can read where Peter the apostle talked to the
rulers of the people, elders, and scribes. “Be it known unto you all, and to the people of Israel, that by the name of Yehoshua Messiah of Nazareth, whom ye crucified…this is the stone which is become the head of the corner, neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:10-12).
Was the Son's Name Changed?
The name Jesus is used by millions of ‘Christians’ worldwide. Sincere people call upon Him, sing praises, worship, and pray using that name; however, many
people were prosecuted and killed, all in the name of Jesus. These horrible act were done by the RCC and Trinitarian churches who were the very people who fabricated this man-made name. Jeremiah the prophet stated, “The Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies…” (Jeremiah 16:19). The true name of the Messiah has not been given to this generation of so called ‘Christians’; however, it is being shown to the true believers that are open to him and are His chosen people scattered around this world. Everything will be done according to God’s will and in His time.
The name Jesus was never and will never be His real name. It is not a Hebrew name; it was derived from the Greek language. Constantine and the religious leaders changed the scriptural seventh day Sabbath to the Mithras Sun-Day Sabbath (they worshiped the sun god on Sunday, which became a commandment of the Roman Catholic Church and followed later by the Protestants) and took the scriptural holy days and changed them into the pagan holidays such as Christmas and New Year’s. Those with the spirit of error (Anti-christ) took the true name of the Messiah and changed it. Did you know in the Spanish language the Messiah is pronounced ‘Hey Soos’ or very similar? Two-thirds of the ‘Christian’ world pronounces Jesus this way. (Read the section below called “Names Other Than Yehoshua,” under I.H.S.)
They would not have crucified the Messiah if they had known the hidden wisdom which God ordained, and also took His name and changed it so that it would not be remembered. “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: which none of the princes of this world knew; for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord [Sovereign] of glory” (1 Corinthians 2:7-8). In Jeremiah 11:19 it states, “But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.”
We can see this prophesy taking place at the time when the Messiah was being crucified: “And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was YEHOSHUA OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. This title then read many of the Jew; for the place where Yehoshua was crucified was nigh to the city; and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin” (John 19:19-20). Some people will take this Scripture and say that this shows it is okay to change His name in any language, but this is not the case. Let us study deeper into this Scripture and we will look at two possible scenarios. Was the name Yehoshua pronounced the same in the Hebrew, Greek, and Latin even though it was spelled differently in each language? Or were there three different names that were pronounced differently, such as Yehoshua (Hebrew), Iesous (Greek), and Iesus (Latin)?
First, we need to understand that the Scripture states, “…and the writing was Yehoshua of Nazareth the King of the Jews.” Look very carefully and you will see this is talking about what was WRITTEN, not pronounced. We can write a name in many different languages, but the name is pronounced the same, even though the rest of the words will be pronounced differently. For example, if your name is John Smith, it could be written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin. It would not change to Joel Berger, Nicholas Michalidis, or Jose Rodriguez. Your name would still be pronounced John Smith, even though they use a different alphabet to write it.
Second, let’s say the three names of the titles were both written and pronounced differently. This was not a true believer who wrote these titles in Hebrew, Greek and Latin. The religious people of the time wanted him crucified and were at that time or shortly after bringing in other names for the Messiah. As mentioned above in Jeremiah 11:19, “But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter…let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name be no more remembered.” Do you know what names the Greek and Latin people called the Messiah? (Read the section below called “Names other than Yehoshua.") We need to recognize and believe in His one and only name, Yehoshua.
Does Satan Use Many Names?
Satan uses many names, not only to change the Messiah’s name, but how he has different names for the angel of the bottomless pit. “And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth; and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose smoke out of the bottomless pit…and there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth…and they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon (Revelation 9: 1-11).
Satan or one of his angels is named Abaddon and has his name Apollyon in the Greek tongue. Abaddon (pronounced; ab-ad-dohn’) means a destroying angel. Given the opportunity he will deceive and then destroy you. When there are multiple names he knows it causes confusion. Satan and all the false gods used many names. For example, Marduk, the national god of Babylonia, who was later, called Bel (Baal). He was the god of fifty names.
Jesus, Isus, Iesvs, Iesus, Isa, Xesus, Jezusi, Jesu, Ihesum, Ihesus, Jezuz, Yesu, Jezi, Gesu, Iosa, Gies, Icyc, Chus, are among the many names which were given by the adversary for the Messiah. There are over 200 countries in this world with about 7.8 billion people as of 1/1/2020. Can you imagine how many counterfeit names the Messiah was called by in the past and how many He is called now? How about the future? How many more will be added to this list of names? In our English language, we are already on the third name which is called Jesus. Maybe soon, the name will get changed a fourth time, who knows?
The Messiah has only one true name. It was given by the messenger of God to Joseph in a dream. No one has the authority to change the name which was given by our heavenly Father. Absolutely no one! When His name keeps getting changed, who is giving the authority? There is no other name under heaven given among men to be saved. None! As stated in the Scriptures above, Peter said in Acts 4:10-12, “Be it known unto you all, and to the people of Israel, that by the name of Yehoshua Messiah of Nazareth, whom ye crucified…this is the stone which is become the head of the corner, neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
Pictures of Marduk, Zeus, and Jesus
Marduk was the god of the city of Babylon and national god of Babylonia. A poem, known as Enumaelish and dating from the reign of Nebuchadnezzar (1124-1103 BC) relates Marduk’s rise to such preeminence that he was the god of fifty names. Later he was called simply Bel, a name derived from the Semitic word Baal, or Lord.
Zeus was the Greek god of the sky and king of gods. He was often referred to as ‘father of gods and man.’ He was thought to be the god who controls lightning and thunder. Zeus was the king of Mount Olympus, the home of the gods, where he ruled the world and imposed his will unto gods and mortals alike.
Jesus is a recent name that is only 400-500 years old. He was first called Iesvs in English and then next, Iesus. The original King James Bible did not use the name Jesus; it was changed in a later revised version. There are numerous names given to the Messiah throughout the world. Do you see the resemblance with Zeus in the two pictures?
What About the Name Jesus?
What about the name Jesus, was that the name used in Acts 2:38? Absolutely not! The original Hebrew name Yehoshua has been changed numerous times. Jesus is not even close to the purity of His true name. The Messiah was a Hebrew, but the name Jesus is derived from the Greek name Iesous. The English name Jesus is only about 400 to 500 years old. Can you believe that? Only about 400 to 500 years old! When Christopher Columbus sailed to the Americas in 1492, there was no such name as Jesus. It did not exist!
Did you know that the name Jesus was not used in the original King James Bible? It was yet another name. There were at least two other names in English for the Messiah before using the name Jesus, which were Iesvs and Iesus. Stop and think about this for a moment; this is the Bible that so many people esteem higher than any other book; however, the name Jesus came in a later revised King James Bible version. When will the name get changed again?
Let’s reason for a moment and ask a couple simple questions. If ‘Christianity’ changed the name Jesus again to, let’s say, Gezeus, would you worship Him using that name? Of course you wouldn’t! How about if it was changed to Isus, would you use that name? Again, of course you wouldn’t. But wait a moment; Isus is another name already being used for the Messiah in Romania, Bosnia, and Croatia. Can you imagine having English, Spanish, and Romanians in the same fellowship? The English would be calling out to Jesus, the Spanish would be saying Hey Soos, and the Romanians would be praising Isus. Can you imagine if a stranger or unbeliever came to that fellowship? He may think that some of the people are praising Jesus, some the Greek god, Zeus, and others, a radical terrorist group! This is three different names and there is no way around it! You may think that each country or language can have their own name for the Messiah, but it isn’t so. It is so simple; the world is blind to it. The truth is staring them in the face, and they cannot see it unless God opens their blinded eyes. The early true believers never knew or used the name Jesus.
“Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Yehoshua Messiah…” (Acts 2:38). The apostolic and oneness believers have it right in that baptism is done using a name (unlike the trinitarians who use titles), but most have the wrong name of our Savior. As hard as it is for the trinitarian to change to the name of Jesus in baptism, it will be just as hard for the apostolic to change to the name Yehoshua. It is like being among the trees and not being able to see the forest. The Spirit says unto the church of Ephesus in Revelation 2:2-3, “I know thy works, and thy labor, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil; and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars…and for my names sake hast labored.”
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” (Matthew 28:19). The Trinitarians use this Scripture in their baptism, failing to understand these are only titles. Many of the apostolic believers think that Jesus is the name for all three titles, but this is not so. It just does not work in the Scriptures, as it would contradict the Word of God. The name Jesus is only 400-500 years old. The Father’s name is eternity. This is as close as black is from white. The Father’s name was never Jesus. Impossible! The Holy Ghost (Comforter) also never had the name Jesus. When you use the name Yehoshua (which means YaH is salvation) in Acts 2:38, it will fulfill what the Messiah told the eleven disciples to do in Matthew 28:19. (Read the next section below called “Why Go Back to Hebrew?”) When you use His correct name, the Word of God will never contradict itself.
Be sincere, study, and pray, and God will show you His truth. Do it with all your heart, soul, and might, and when you understand it, you will be amazed that you have never seen this before. You will not only be among the trees, you will see the forest!
Why Go Back to Hebrew?
Actually, almost everyone knows a little Hebrew. When we say HalleluYah (pronounced al-le-loo’-yah), we are giving God praise. In Hebrew, it means “Praise you YaH.” We can read in Psalm 68:4, “Sing unto God, sing praises to His name; extol Him that rideth upon the heavens by His name YAH [Yahh: Strong’s Dictionary of the Hebrew Bible; 3050, page 47], and rejoice before Him.” To this day, we sing that lovely song: HalleluYaH. Praise is to YaH! Many people sing this song; however, they have no idea they are singing praise to God’s name.
An interesting thing to learn is that in many different nations, people say or sing HalleluYaH the same way (some pronounce it with the H, some without) The English, Spanish, Russians, and Americans, among many other people, are actually praising God’s name YaH and they don’t even know it. It is right there and they can’t see it! Sometimes we may be looking for something and it could be right in our hand. How many people have looked for their eye glasses and it ended up they were wearing them all along. Out of over a billion people who call themselves ‘Christians,’ only a handful understands this. This is truly amazing!
It is also used both in heaven and earth to worship the true God. “And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven saying, Alleluia…” (Revelation 19:1-6). YaH is the core of the name being worshiped. To describe what He is doing, you need the last part added to YaH. The Father’s name YH-- is describing God (YaH) as the Creator. The Son’s name Yehoshua is describing God (YaH) as the Savior. Remember, ancient Hebrew had no vowels, so very importantly; the YH needs to be in both the Father’s name as Creator and in the Son’s name as Savior because there is and can only be one in the Godhead. There is no other God beside Him. He is the Father and He is the Son, He is only one God. Read in Isaiah 45:21-22 “…and there is no God else beside me; a JUST GOD and a SAVIOUR; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” Also read in Isaiah 44:24, “Thus saith YaH--, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am YaH-- that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself.” Praise YaH!

What was the original name for the Messiah in the King James Bible?
Very importantly, the Tetragrammaton should have been written everywhere in the King James Bible or any other Bible where the word LORD (capital letters) appears.

The name given to our Savior is Yehoshua, (Yehowshua) pronounced yeh-ho-shoo’-ah (Strong’s Dictionary of the Hebrew Bible; 3091, page 48). His name, which was given by the angel, had to mean salvation, as Mary was told, “For he shall save his people from their sins.” Yehoshua means God (YH) is Salvation.
Those with the spirit of error (Anti-christ) took the true name of the Messiah and changed it, possibly (not proven) taking it from the Greek god Zeus and his son Dionysius. Did you know in the Spanish language that Jesus is pronounced ‘Hey Soos’, or ‘Hay Seus’? Does this name come from the Greek god Zeus?
(Read the section below called “Names other than Yehoshua”). We need to recognize and believe in His one and only name, Yehoshua.
Satan or one of his angels name is Abaddon and has his name Apollyon in the Greek tongue.
But wait a moment; Isus is another name already being used for Jesus in Romania, Bosnia, and Croatia.
Most of the apostolic believers think that Jesus is the name for all three titles, but this is not so. When you use the name Yehoshua, which means YaH is salvation, Acts 2:38 will fulfill what the Messiah told the eleven disciples to do in Matthew 28:19. (Read the next section below called “Why Go Back to Hebrew?”). When you use His correct name, the Word of God will never contradict itself.
